It can be difficult to co-parent with your ex after a separation or divorce. This is particularly true when there has been infidelity or toxic communication patterns during the relationship. Many parents need assistance in adjusting to the "new normal" of their life post-divorce. In co-parenting coaching, we focus on talking through common issues that co-parents experience after their separation. Co-parenting coaching is not counseling, nor is it therapy. Rather, it is a series of facilitated, guided, solution-focused conversations aimed at resolving historic and current issues, rebuilding trust, and improving communication.

Common issues addressed in co-parenting coaching:

problematic communication patterns; boundaries for ongoing communication
identifying needs and boundaries when establishing a "new normal"
historic / current infidelity and its impact on your ability to co-parent
lack of trust and honesty, and how to rebuild this in stages
the role of new partners in the children's lives, and how / when to introduce them
differing perspectives on child-rearing and parenting
the role of grandparents and extended family, and establishing boundaries

What happens during co-parenting coaching?

Hayley will begin by asking both / all parties to fill out an Intake Form and a Consent Form. Once she has received those from both / all parties, we will then schedule individual one-hour sessions (generally via Zoom, but in-person is also available if needed) so that Hayley can get to know you, and learn about what brings you to coaching. Hayley will canvass the issues you would like to talk about, and she will begin organizing the agenda for the coaching sessions. From there, we will schedule a two-hour session in which we will all meet together (virtually or in-person). Together we will set and review the agenda for this session. Hayley may, at times, separate you to discuss matters confidentially, but otherwise we will all be together for the two-hour session.

If during our session you reach agreements on how to move forward, Hayley will draft a Coaching Summary Report. It is not a legally-binding document. Rather, it is a summary of what you have agreed to during our coaching session, and it is followed "in good faith" by both parties.

Please note: a Coaching Summary Report cannot change arrangements as outlined in a Court Order or Separation Agreement. Rather, coaching is meant to help parties "fine tune" the arrangement that is already in place.

Parties generally meet with Hayley for two or three sessions (each lasting two hours), and there is the option of individual meetings in between sessions if both parties are in agreement and both participate.

What is the cost?

Introductory Package

Two individual Intake meetings (one hour each) and one two-hour coaching session, plus drafting of Coaching Summary Report. Cost is split by both parties.

$1200.00 + HST

Follow-Up Package

One two-hour coaching session, plus drafting of Coaching Summary Report. Cost is split by both parties. Please note: parties must begin with the Introductory Package.

$700.00 + HST

Where do we start? And what if my ex is not interested?

Dr. Glaholt is available for a complimentary 30-minute Zoom meeting with both interested clients. This is a chance for us to talk "face to face" and for you to ask questions, without any obligation to move forward with the coaching process. This can be done all together, or we can break it into two 15-minute Zooms where Hayley will meet alone with each party.

Since coaching is a voluntary process, both parties must be willing to participate in order for a mediation to take place. Therefore, the free 30-minute Zoom session is a good way for potential clients to see what co-parenting coaching is all about, and to determine if the process is right for them.
